B-Trust: Bayesian Trust Framework for Pervasive Computing

چکیده
Without trust, pervasive devices cannot collaborate effectively, and without collaboration, the pervasive computing vision cannot be made a reality. Distributed trust frameworks may support trust and thus foster collaboration in an hostile pervasive computing environment. Existing frameworks deal with foundational properties of computational trust. We here propose a distributed trust framework that satisfies a broader range of properties. Our framework: (i) evolves trust based on a Bayesian formalization, whose trust metric is expressive, yet tractable; (ii) is lightweight; (iii) protects user anonymity, whilst being resistant to “Sybil attacks” (and enhancing detection of two collusion attacks); (iv) integrates a risk-aware decision module. We evaluate the framework through four

DisTriB: Distributed Trust Management Model Based on Gossip Learning and Bayesian Networks in Collaborative Computing Systems
The interactions among peers in Peer-to-Peer systems as a distributed collaborative system are based on asynchronous and unreliable communications. Trust is an essential and facilitating component in these interactions specially in such uncertain environments. Various attacks are possible due to large-scale nature and openness of these systems that affects the trust. Peers has not enough inform...

متن کاملQualitative Trust Dynamics Algebra for Trust Management in Pervasive Computing Environments
Trust management is turning out to be essential for further and wider acceptance of contemporary IT solutions. It was first addressed some ten years ago when the suggested approaches at that period were actually tackling security and not trust directly. Later, more advanced methodologies emerged that were based on Bayesian statistics, and these were followed by Dempster-Shafer theory of evidenc...
متن کاملA confidence-aware interval-based trust model
It is a common and useful task in a web of trust to evaluate the trust value between two nodes using intermediate nodes. This technique is widely used when the source node has no experience of direct interaction with the target node, or the direct trust is not reliable enough by itself. If trust is used to support decision-making, it is important to have not only an accurate estimate of trust, ...
متن کاملTrust Management – From Pervasive Computing Environments to Mathematical Economy and Sociology
Trust management in pervasive computing environments is one of top research areas for quite some years. Although first efforts started in the mid-nineties, the real momentum came some twelve years ago. From that time such methodologies started to appear that were addressing the core of trust phenomenon. Among those naïve Bayesian statistics based methodologies should be mentioned first, then De...
